The Fitness Center’s pool is a place to relax, have fun, or get a good workout. Different people see the pool as something special for them based on their desires. Elderly people see it as an easier way to stay healthy, students and children like to play and have fun, and some just go to swim laps or relax.
The activity of the pool is fairly moderate; it sustains an active amount of swimming each day, about the same times every day.
“The pool is usually busy from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., the rest of the time it is quiet,” said Whitney Osborn, Miami senior, lifeguard.
Another one of the lifeguards, Steven Lee, Sallisaw senior, has worked for the fitness center two years.
“I feel like it has a decent amount of activity, but there could definitely be more,” said Lee.
The pool is open from 2 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and Sunday, and 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
“Opening at a different time may make a difference in productivity; maybe open up in the mornings too.”
Whether people are there or not, it is still the place to go if anyone wanted to relax. There is a deck outside with plenty of beach chairs, for anyone’s leisure.
